This baby doesn’t think so. ..  at least not yet!

So, what do you do when you are 1 week overdue and waiting?

Duh – spend lots of time on Pinterest of course. Smile

Reflections at the end

While Scott and I were on a walk with Abby yesterday, we started talking about the pregnancy and how it will be over so soon. While, I have had a relatively ‘good’ pregnancy (except for when the baby tried to kill me in the first trimester with ‘morning’ sickness), there are still a good number of things that I will not miss when I am no longer pregnant. . . but on the flip side, there are things I will miss about being pregnant.

Pregnancy is an experience like nothing else in life. Here are the things I want to remember and forget about this pregnancy!

things I won’t miss about being pregnant

1. swollen ankles at the end of a busy day in clinic

2. reflux – especially with running!

3. continued weight gain – seeing the scale read numbers I have never seen before!

4. someone else messing with my taste buds – the baby made me not want foods that I normally love and made me crave foods that I hardly ever eat. . . the worst part was the 2-3 weeks where Caribou coffee didn’t taste good! Thankfully, we are past that part now. Smile

5. waking up every morning feeling sick – for most people, this gets better. Not for me. Every morning I wake up feeling nauseous and hungry all at the same time.

6. having to pee all the time, or at least the feeling like you have to pee all the time because of a baby sitting on your bladder

7. not being able to sleep on my stomach or back

8. snoring – because of the pressure of the baby pushing up, I have started snoring (loudly according to my husband) at night. It has been so bad that lately, he has to go sleep downstairs!

9. pelvic pain with running – I will be so happy to run pain free after the baby is born!

10. not being able to tie my shoes – ’nuff said!

things I will miss about being pregnant

1. growing a human inside me –> pretty cool!

2. baby kicks

3. baby somersaults

4. baby hiccups

5. watching my belly move and trying to guess which baby body part is poking out

6. the niceness people show towards pregnant women

7. my husband putting his hands on my belly to feel the baby kick

8. maternity jeans – seriously comfortable

9. the anticipation of meeting the baby

10. my family’s growing excitement

Our excitement and anticipation continues to grow as we wait to meet our new little one!

Here are some family pics from our Easter Sunday – hope you had a great weekend!

Due date

I read somewhere that less than 10% of babies are born on their due date.

This baby is not part of that 10%!

My due date (yesterday – April 6th) came and went and still no baby.

Which is ok. . .

While we are both ready to meet our new little one, both  my husband and I are such planners that it has been good the baby is waiting to come. I spent the day yesterday organizing . .. our nightstand drawers, our dresser drawers and the dreaded bathroom closet! Things that didn’t need to be done before the baby comes, but is really nice that it is all done!

I wasn’t sure if we were going to make it to this post: but here are pictures at 40 weeks!

Now it is just a waiting game! And he’ll come when he is ready. Smile

Craving and Aversions

I thought it would be fun to reflect on my pregnancy and share with you all my weird food habits during this pregnancy. . .

Typical pregnancy stereotype. . . but I loved pickles – although not just any pickles… they had to be Claussen Dill pickles!

Orange juice

It just tasted so good! I even cried over it one night. . . seriously – pregnancy hormones are no joke! Winking smile

Fiber One Bars: Oats and Chocolate

These were my go to snack. As I got further along in my pregnancy, I found that I would have to snack more frequently. This was the perfect size and amount and easy to take with me in the car or my purse.

Caribou coffee

Oh, it was so terrible in the first trimester when my normal caramel skim latte had NO appeal to me. . . Thankfully, it got better into the second and third trimester, and I was able to have my normal (well, half-caffeine) latte in the morning. .. but then just recently into the third trimester my taste buds are playing an evil trick on me and my normally favorite place for lattes – Caribou Coffee – tastes just awful! I hope things turn around again soon!

I never have really liked fish or the smell of fish, but during pregnancy, I can’t even be around it. If anyone in the lunchroom at work has fish or the worst –tuna fish – I can’t even be in there to eat lunch!

I have always been picky when it comes to meat, but it has intensified during pregnancy. I was pretty routinely eating turkey sandwiches for lunch until about 2-3 weeks ago, when I had one bite of turkey that was just weird and since then – I can’t even think about eating a turkey sandwiches – seriously, I am almost gagging just thinking about it right now!

I usually love chobani yogurt, but just does not taste good right now. . .

My usual salads or side veggie with dinner has been absent for most of this pregnancy. Just doesn’t sound or taste good. Thankfully, I have been able to sneak some veggies into dishes and have been able to snack on fresh baby carrots to get my nutrients in!

I am looking forward to having my taste buds go back to ‘normal’ after the baby is born. I am planning on breast feeding though so it will be interesting to see what changes in my diet I will have to make depending on how they affect the baby!

If you are or have been pregnant: what are some of your craziest food cravings or aversions? And if your not pregnant – what food are you loving right now???

38 weeks!

38 weeks_1

38 weeks_3

The past two weeks:

  • The ladies at work surprised me with a baby shower/potluck!
  • Scott installed the car seat
  • We took a breast feeding class
  • We celebrated Scott’s 31st birthday
  • Minnesota has had record highs for March – 80+ degrees
  • Still running!
    • Took Scott and Abby for a couple slow runs outside with the nice weather. Also, did a run with my Dad and Abby too.
  • My rings still fit. . . but the ankles are swollen after a long day in clinic!
  • Abby seems to know ‘something’ is coming because she is wanting more attention every day! She still wanders into the nursery daily to check things out. . . I hope she still goes in there when the baby comes!
  • When I was out on a walk with Abby, I passed a grandfather with his 2 grandkids, a 6 year old girl and a 4 year old boy. As I got passed them, I hear the boy whisper to his grandfather, “Grandpa, that lady has a baby in her tummy!” So cute!
  • I continue to love every kick, jab and twist of the baby
  • As of the doctors appointment yesterday, baby is 6 pounds 13 ounces!
  • 14 days until the due date!
